The sprawling Public Gardens in the heart of the city close to
Nampally Railway Station, one of the best laid gardens in the country,
was laid during the reign of Mahaboob Ali Pasha, the VIth Nizam. It
encloses the State Legislative buildings, the Hyderabad Archaeological
Museum, the Health Museum, Jubilee Hall, the Indira Priyadarsini
Auditorium, a Children's Library and Recreation center (Jawahar Bal
Bhavan), and finally the prestigious Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam, an
open air theatre specially constructed for Filmotsav'85. Like the
Hyde-Park in London, the Public Gardens provide recreation to its
citizens with the numerous fountains, lawns and swan ponds with
   boating facilities.
